A telemedicine device is a small, lightweight, wire free and portable electronic medical system that enables a doctor to view the vital signs of a patient regardless of the location of either party. This is achieved by attaching remote sensors to the patient’s finger and arm which transmits vital sign data via Bluetooth technology to the telemedicine device. Then by using GPS/GSM communications, the information is sent to a doctor who can view the vital signs via their laptop – PC or PDA, in real time!
Depending on pre-determined response options and locally available equipment and medical aid, the doctor can then advise on how best to treat the patient.
